New Impala Black Granite: the complete guide
New Impala Black Granite is a medium-grained dark granite, with grey and black crystals evenly distributed. It is chosen for its durability and understated appearance, suitable for floors, stairs and heavily used tops.
History and origin
The name recalls Impala Black, a long-established dark granite widely used in construction and funerary art; under the name New Impala, materials of similar appearance and different origins are found on the market. It is widely used for headstones, steps, thresholds and paving. The origin of the batch is specified when the offer is made. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The anthracite grey background features light grey feldspar crystals and black minerals, in a regular, speckled pattern. Variation between slabs is limited. Polished, it looks almost black; flamed, it becomes light grey and rough, ideal for exteriors and steps.

FAQ
Why is it black when polished and grey when flamed?
Flaming makes the surface rough and diffuses the light, making the crystals appear lighter. Polishing, on the other hand, brings out the deep colour of the stone.
Is it suitable for outdoor stairs?
Yes, it is one of its typical applications: with a flamed or bush-hammered finish it offers good grip and great durability.
Is it also used for headstones?
Yes, its dark, uniform colour makes engravings and lettering very legible, and it is traditional in funerary art.
How is it ordered?
