Verde Malachite
Guide

Verde Malachite marble: the complete guide

Verde Malachite is a deep green stone with light veins reminiscent of the mineral it is named after. For Marmi di Carrara it comes from its own quarry and is chosen for projects that want character.

History and origin

Commercially classified as a marble, Verde Malachite comes from a quarry owned by Marmi di Carrara: this lets us follow extraction, select the blocks and guarantee continuity of supply for large projects. The name recalls malachite, the banded green mineral used since antiquity for jewellery and decoration, because of the similar colour effect.

Look and veining

A deep green background, from forest green to dark emerald, crossed by lighter veins and shades that create a dynamic pattern. Polished, the colour becomes deep and brilliant; honed, it takes on a velvety tone. Every slab has its own pattern, ideal for book-matched compositions.

Recommended uses

Perfect for feature walls, dramatic bathrooms, table tops, fireplaces, furniture tops and washbasins, inlays and marquetry. In kitchens it works well on islands and breakfast bars, with a protective treatment. It pairs with large neutral surfaces: a single wall or top in Verde Malachite is enough to define a room.

Care and maintenance

Clean with neutral detergents and a soft cloth; avoid acids, descalers and aggressive products that can dull the polish. Apply a stain-proof sealer after installation and renew it periodically. On polished surfaces use coasters and blot liquids immediately.

Pairings

  • With brass and gold for an Art Deco effect.
  • With walnut and leather for warm, refined interiors.
  • With Carrara whites such as Statuario or Calacatta for a sharp contrast.

FAQ

Is Verde Malachite a true marble?

It is sold as a marble and worked like one; for special uses (outdoors, very wet areas) ask us for the full technical data of the batch.

Can I get it for a large project?

Yes: since it comes from our own quarry we can select uniform blocks and schedule the supply.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

Yes, for cladding, vanity tops and washbasins, with a water-repellent treatment and cleaning with neutral products.

Which finishes are available?

Polished, honed, brushed and other finishes on request; polished enhances the colour the most.
