Arabescato Garfagnana: complete guide
Arabescato Garfagnana is a white marble with irregular grey veins, quarried in the Apuan area overlooking the Garfagnana. It is valued for its dynamic pattern and its versatility in floors, cladding and furnishings.
History and origin
The Garfagnana, a valley in the province of Lucca on the inland side of the Apuan Alps, has long been home to marble quarrying. The arabescato marbles from this area are white marbles with branching grey veins, widely used in bathroom furnishings and cladding. The trade name indicates the area of origin rather than a single quarry. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The white background is crossed by grey veins of varying thickness, sometimes fine and soft, sometimes bolder, forming an irregular network. The intensity and direction of the pattern change from one slab to the next, a feature that makes every surface unique. Matt honing enhances the brightness of the white; polishing makes the veining more legible.

FAQ
How does it differ from Arabescato Vagli?
They are marbles from the same area and the same aesthetic family; the differences mainly concern the density and width of the veins, which also vary from block to block. The safest way to choose is to compare photos of the available slabs.
Is it suitable for a floor at home?
Yes, indoors it is an excellent flooring solution: with a honed finish signs of wear are less noticeable. Over time, in areas of heavy traffic, professional re-polishing may be needed.
Which finishes are available?
The most common are polished, honed (matt) and brushed; on request, more rustic finishes such as sandblasting can also be produced. The finish should be chosen according to the setting and the desired effect.
