Azul Imperial Quartzite: complete guide

Azul Imperial Quartzite is a Brazilian stone with sky-blue and blue tones, crossed by light veining. It is chosen for projects with character, where a rare colour is wanted without sacrificing strength.

History and origin

It comes from Brazil, a country known for the coloured quartzites that have won over the high-end furnishing market in recent years. Blue tones are uncommon among natural stones and make it a material chosen for one-off pieces and statement surfaces. Availability depends on quarrying and may vary over time. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The background alternates sky blue, blue and grey, with white and grey veins that create a dynamic pattern. Each slab differs in colour intensity and vein movement, and for large surfaces book-matched laying is recommended. Polishing intensifies the blue, while matt finishes make it softer.

Recommended uses

Ideal for kitchen islands, bathroom vanity tops, feature walls, counters and tables. It can also be used for flooring, but because of its value it is used mainly on vertical surfaces and tops where the pattern remains on show.

Care and maintenance

A neutral detergent and a soft cloth are sufficient for everyday use. A stain-proofing protector is recommended, to be renewed according to use, especially on kitchen worktops.

Pairings

  • light woods such as ash or maple
  • satin brass and bronze
  • pure white and pearl grey for the surrounding surfaces

FAQ

Is the blue colour natural?

Yes, the tones come from the minerals present in the rock. The intensity varies from slab to slab, so it is important to choose the slabs from photos or in person.

Can it be used for a kitchen island?

Yes: as a quartzite it resists scratches, heat and food acids. It is a very striking choice for islands and exposed tops.

How is it laid to bring out its pattern?

For walls and large tops, book-matching is often used, placing consecutive slabs from the same block side by side in a mirror image.

How can I order it?

Contact us with the dimensions of the project: we will prepare a quotation and send you photos of the available slabs, so you can choose those with the pattern you prefer.
