Taj Mahal Quartzite is a Brazilian stone with a warm cream background and light honey-coloured veining. It is chosen for its understated elegance, reminiscent of a light marble, combined with the durability of quartzite.
History and origin
It comes from Brazil, one of the leading producers of decorative quartzites. In recent years it has become one of the most sought-after quartzites for high-end kitchens and bathrooms worldwide. The trade name evokes the whiteness of monuments in light stone and has nothing to do with its origin. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request, in slabs and bespoke pieces.
Look and veining
The background is ivory white or cream, with thin, soft veins in beige, pale gold and warm grey. Differences between slabs mainly concern the amount of veining and how warm the tone is. Polished, it has a silky luminosity; the leathered finish accentuates the tactile feel and reduces reflections.

FAQ
Is Taj Mahal a genuine quartzite?
Generally yes, and it is one of the most reliable light quartzites. As with any batch, a scratch test on the sample confirms its hardness.
How does it differ from a cream marble?
A cream marble such as Crema Marfil is softer and sensitive to acids; Taj Mahal looks similar but withstands scratches and kitchen spills much better.
Can it be used for a kitchen worktop with an undermount sink?
Yes, it is a common application. Cutting and polishing the edge of the cut-out must be done carefully, as with any bespoke fabrication.
