Quarzite Rosa
Guide

Pink Quartzite: the complete guide

Pink Quartzite is a natural stone with a pinkish background, hard and compact. It is chosen to combine a delicate colour, rare among durable stones, with the robustness typical of quartzite.

History and origin

Quartzites form from the transformation of quartz-rich sandstones under pressure and temperature, which fuse their grains together. Pinkish varieties owe their colour to small quantities of iron oxides. It is an imported material, available on the international market in batches of varying shade. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The background ranges from powder pink to salmon, crossed by white, grey or slightly golden veins. The intensity of the pink can vary greatly between different blocks, so it is advisable to choose the slabs for the whole project in one go. Polished, it shows crystalline reflections; brushed or satin-finished, it looks softer and is less slippery.

Recommended uses

Suitable for kitchen worktops, islands, bathrooms, floors and cladding, also outdoors with a non-slip finish. More than the application, it is the nature of the batch that should be checked: a genuine quartzite copes well with everyday use.

Care and maintenance

Clean with a neutral detergent; a periodic stain-proofing treatment reduces the absorption of oil and wine. In any case, avoid strongly acidic or alkaline products not specifically designed for stone.

Pairings

  • satin brass and copper
  • light oak or birch wood
  • sage green and terracotta tones

FAQ

How can you tell whether it is a genuine quartzite?

With the scratch test: a genuine quartzite cannot be scored with a steel blade and does not react to acid. Some materials sold as quartzite are actually dolomitic marbles, which are softer.

Is it suitable for a kitchen worktop?

Yes, if the batch is a genuine quartzite: it resists scratches and heat. A stain-proofing treatment is still recommended for oil and coloured liquids.

Which finishes are available?

Usually polished, honed, brushed and, for outdoor use, sandblasted, depending on thickness and batch. Matt finishes slightly tone down the colour but hide fingerprints better.

How is it ordered?
