Blanco Macael: complete guide
Blanco Macael is a Spanish white marble with grey veins, more or less marked depending on the selection. It is a classic choice for those looking for a bright, versatile white.
History and origin
It comes from the Macael area in the province of Almería, Andalusia, one of Spain's main marble districts. The area's quarrying tradition is very old, and Macael white marble has long been used in Andalusian architecture. Today it is widely available on the international market in several selections. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The background is white, sometimes slightly greyish, with a crystalline grain and fine or occasionally broader grey veins. The finest selections have a whiter background and sparser veining; commercial ones show more grey. Polished, it is glossy; honed or brushed, it looks matt and warmer.

FAQ
What is the difference from white Carrara marble?
Both are white calcitic marbles with grey veins, but they come from different deposits and differ in grain, background tone and pattern. The choice depends on the desired effect and the slabs available.
Can it be used outdoors?
Yes, with honed, sandblasted or bush-hammered finishes it is used for outdoor paving and cladding. A polished finish tends to wear off over time in the open air.
