Bohus Granite: complete guide
Bohus is a medium to coarse-grained red Swedish granite, compact and highly resistant. It is chosen for durable works, especially outdoors, where its warm colour remains stable over time.
History and origin
The name recalls the Bohuslän region on the west coast of Sweden, an area with a long tradition of granite quarrying. Scandinavian granites have long been valued for their compactness and frost resistance. As well as the red variety, there is also a grey version. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The background is red or red-orange, with clearly visible grey quartz crystals and dark minerals. The pattern is fairly homogeneous, with slight differences in tone between blocks. Polishing intensifies the red, while flaming and bush-hammering give a lighter, matt pink.
