Breccia Aurora marble: the complete guide

History and origin

It is quarried in the province of Brescia, an area with a great stone tradition alongside nearby Botticino. Breccias are rocks formed by fragments cemented together, which create the characteristic clast pattern. Breccia Aurora has been widely used in floors, columns and cladding of historic buildings. Look and veining

Fragments of various sizes in beige, antique pink and ochre, enclosed by a darker reddish or hazel matrix. The pattern is lively and irregular, varying from slab to slab. Polished, the colours warm up; honed, it has a softer, more rustic look.

Recommended uses

Perfect for floors of entrances and living rooms, bathroom cladding, fireplaces, tables, columns, thresholds and restoration of historic buildings. In contemporary projects it is used for feature walls and furniture, where its warmth balances colder materials.

Care and maintenance

Neutral detergents and a soft cloth; avoid acids and abrasives. A stain-proof treatment protects the most used surfaces. As with all breccias, any small natural cavities are filled during processing: avoid aggressive products that could affect them.
