History and origin

It is quarried near Villa Collemandina, in Garfagnana (Lucca), an area close to the Apuan Alps with a long tradition of coloured stones. Tuscan red marbles have been widely used in churches and palaces for patterned floors, altars and decoration. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
