Cantera Crema: complete guide
Cantera Crema is a light Mexican volcanic stone with a warm cream tone. It is chosen for bright cladding, columns and carved decoration in traditional or contemporary styles.
History and origin
It is one of the canteras, the volcanic tuffs that in Mexico are the material par excellence for colonial-era churches, palaces and squares. The light versions are popular because they combine easily with different styles. Today Cantera Crema is used for façades, furnishings and interior design. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The background is cream or ivory, sometimes with slight pinkish or grey nuances, and small dark inclusions typical of its volcanic origin. The appearance is matt and soft, with slight differences in tone between blocks. Matt honed, it looks smooth and even; brushed or carved, it highlights its natural porosity.

Care and maintenance
A water- and oil-repellent treatment is essential, especially for a light colour that easily shows dirt and stains. Clean with water and neutral detergents, without acids or wire brushes.
