Fantastico Arni: complete guide

Fantastico Arni is an Apuan marble with a white background, crossed by broad veins in shades of grey and ochre. The name describes its character well: a lively, striking pattern, suited to statement surfaces.

History and origin

It comes from the Arni area, in the municipality of Stazzema, in the Apuan Alps near Lucca, an area where several veined marbles are quarried. The warm hues of its veins set it apart from the greyer arabescato marbles. It is used above all for bathrooms, cladding, worktops and prestigious furnishings. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The white background is crossed by grey veins of varying thickness, accompanied by ochre, beige and sometimes golden hues. The pattern varies greatly from slab to slab and lends itself to book-matched installation. Polishing brings out the warm tones; honing makes them softer and more natural.

FAQ

What causes the ochre veins?

The warm hues are generally due to small quantities of oxides naturally present in the stone. They are part of its character and vary in intensity from one block to another.

Can it be used for a kitchen island?

Yes, it is a very striking choice, but as a calcitic marble it is marked by acids and scratches. Those who accept the patina that develops over time will appreciate its character; a honed finish makes marks less noticeable.

Is it suitable for book-matching?

Very much so: the broad vein pattern creates evocative mirrored effects on walls and splashbacks. Consecutive slabs should be requested at the time of quotation.
