Preto Ceará Granite: complete guide

Preto Ceará granite is a black Brazilian granite with grey crystals distributed through the mass. It is chosen for hard-wearing dark surfaces in kitchens, bathrooms and exteriors.

History and origin

The name refers to the state of Ceará, in north-eastern Brazil, a region that produces several granites for export. Brazilian black granites are in high demand on the international market for their elegant appearance and durability. Characteristics and shade should be checked on the available lot. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The background is black or very dark grey, with grey or light crystals of varying density that lighten its appearance. The size and density of the crystals can change between slabs. Polished, it shows an intense black; brushed, flamed or honed, it becomes dark grey.

Suitable for kitchen worktops, bathroom vanity tops, floors, stairs, thresholds and exterior cladding. Resistant to frost and wear. In a flamed or brushed finish it is suitable for outdoor paving.

Care and maintenance

Clean with a neutral detergent and dry to avoid limescale marks on the black. Its low porosity makes stains rare; a protector still helps with cleaning. Do not use waxes or products that leave a film.
