History and origin

It comes from India and is a gneissic rock, with minerals arranged in bands. The trade name, raw silk, alludes precisely to its flowing pattern. It is widespread on the international market, mainly for kitchens, bathrooms and interior cladding. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The background alternates beige, cream and antique pink, with grey and light brown bands in a wavy pattern. The movement is marked and changes from slab to slab, so the choice of slabs is important. Polished, it shows more saturated tones, while honed or brushed it becomes lighter and more natural.

Recommended uses

It lends itself to kitchen worktops, islands, bathroom tops and wall cladding, as well as thresholds and window sills. As flooring it works best in large rooms, where the pattern has space to develop.

Care and maintenance

Clean with water and a neutral detergent. Being a light tone of medium absorbency, on worktops it should be protected with a stain-repellent impregnating sealer renewed periodically.
