Afyon Gold: the complete guide
Afyon Gold is a marble with a light background, from white to cream, with golden and grey veins. It is chosen as an imported alternative to light marbles with gold veining.
History and origin
It comes from Turkey, from the Afyon area, which has a long tradition of quarrying white and coloured marbles. The material is widely available on the international market and is used in residences, hotels and commercial spaces. The availability of slabs with even veining may vary from block to block. Look and veining
The background is warm white or cream, with veins ranging from golden yellow to grey. The pattern can be fine and diffuse or concentrated in bolder bands. Polished brings out the golden highlights, honed makes the whole softer and brighter.

Recommended uses
Suitable for interior floors and cladding, bathrooms, washbasin tops, stairs and furnishings. Not well suited to exteriors or heavily used kitchens, due to its sensitivity to acids.
Care and maintenance
Being light, it should be protected with a stain-proofing impregnator before use. Clean with neutral detergents, wiping up coffee, wine and oils immediately. Avoid acidic products and limescale removers.

Is Afyon Gold similar to Calacatta Oro?
It recalls the same effect of a light background with golden veins, but it is a Turkish marble with its own characteristics and usually more affordable.
Does it stain easily?
Like all light marbles, it can absorb coloured liquids: with a good protective treatment and prompt cleaning the risk is greatly reduced.
Can it be used for a large-format floor?
Yes, indoors it lays well both in slabs and in calibrated tiles; for continuity of pattern, material from the same block is advisable.
