Green Aventurine: the complete guide
Green Aventurine in slabs is made of fragments of this green stone with sparkling reflections, bonded with resin. It is chosen for luxury decorative surfaces with a lively, brilliant light.
History and origin
Aventurine is a quartz containing tiny mineral inclusions, such as fuchsite, which are responsible for the green colour and the sparkling effect known as aventurescence. It has long been known in jewellery and decorative objects. For interiors, the fragments are selected, arranged and consolidated with resin. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The colour varies from light green to forest green, with small glittering reflections that move with the light. The arrangement of the fragments creates an irregular mosaic, different in every slab. Polishing enhances the glitter and the depth of the green.

FAQ
Where does the sparkling effect come from?
From the tiny platy mineral inclusions, such as fuchsite, that reflect light. The effect changes with the viewing angle and the lighting.
Can it be backlit?
Only partly: aventurine has little translucency, so the effect is less marked than with agates and quartzes. It is best showcased by direct or grazing light.
Is it suitable for a kitchen worktop?
Quartz is hard and acid-resistant, but the resin is sensitive to heat and scratches. For an everyday worktop a granite or a quartzite is preferable; aventurine is better suited to statement counters and islands.
