Malachite Gold: the complete guide
Malachite Gold is a decorative slab based on malachite, the intense green copper mineral with its banded pattern. It is chosen for interiors with a strong personality, where the stone's pattern takes centre stage.
History and origin
Malachite is a copper carbonate that has been used for centuries for ornaments, precious objects and the cladding of luxury furniture. As it is soft and available only in small pieces, in slab form it is reconstituted with resin. The trade name Gold indicates a version with warm tones or golden accents, to be checked on the photos of the slab. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The pattern is formed of concentric rings and bands alternating emerald green, bottle green and light green. The composition of the pieces makes every slab unique, with variations in the scale of the pattern. Malachite is opaque: polishing intensifies its colour, but backlit use is not intended.

FAQ
Is malachite in slabs natural?
The fragments are natural malachite, reconstituted and consolidated with resin to obtain slabs of usable size. This is why the pattern is a mosaic and not continuous as in a block.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
For a wall or a cabinet away from splashes, yes; for an everyday washbasin top it is too delicate compared with agates or quartzes.
Can it be backlit?
No, malachite is opaque. It looks best under warm direct light, which enhances the contrasts of green.
