Heuchelberg Sandstone: complete guide

Heuchelberg Sandstone is a sandstone from Baden-Württemberg with a characteristic greenish-yellow tone. It is chosen for cladding and architectural work that calls for a natural, discreet colour.

Suitable for: Wall claddingOutdoor

History and origin

It is quarried in the Heuchelberg area, in south-western Germany, where sandstones of this type were for a long time the local building material. In the region it can be found in historic buildings, walls and decoration. Today it is used mainly for restoration and new stone façades. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The colour ranges from yellow-green to light grey-green, with a fine, uniform grain. Thin laminations, ochre veins and small dark inclusions are common, giving the surfaces movement. Brushed or matt honed, it has a soft look; chiselled, it reveals a lighter tone and an artisan texture.
