History and origin

It comes from southern Poland, in the Carpathian region, where grey sandstones are traditionally used for roads, walls and buildings. Its use is linked above all to outdoor works, from urban paving to retaining walls. Today it is also valued in landscaping and gardens. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The background is medium grey, sometimes with bluish or greenish nuances, and a fine, compact grain. The appearance is uniform, with slight variations in tone and possible thin veins. Flamed finishes are not typical: sawn, sandblasted, bush-hammered or split surfaces are preferred, which remain understated and non-slip.

Recommended uses

Ideal for outdoor paving, setts, kerbs, steps, walls and cladding. It is also used indoors for floors with character; for kitchen worktops, less absorbent materials that are easier to keep clean are preferred.

Care and maintenance

Wash with water and a brush, using neutral detergents for stubborn dirt. A water-repellent treatment is not essential, but makes cleaning easier in areas prone to staining.
