Anröchte Stone: complete guide

History and origin

It is quarried around Anröchte, in Westphalia, where it has been used for centuries in the region's buildings, from churches to traditional houses. It is a limestone with a sandy component and glauconite, the mineral that gives it its greenish tone. As well as the green variety, there is a variety with a bluer tone. Look and veining

The background is green-grey, with a fine grain and slight variations in tone. The colouring may be more or less intense depending on the bed and tends to soften outdoors over time. Honed finishes show its colour best, while bush-hammered and sandblasted ones make it lighter.

Recommended uses

Suitable for façades, window sills, thresholds, stairs, floors and outdoor paving, as well as restoration work. It is not suitable for kitchen worktops and should be protected in very damp areas.

Care and maintenance

A water-repellent treatment reduces absorption and the formation of films. Clean with neutral detergents, without acidic products.
