Muskoka Pink Granite: the complete guide
Muskoka Pink Granite is a pink Canadian granite from Ontario, with a warm, natural tone. It is chosen for exteriors and interiors that require a coloured yet understated stone that is frost-resistant.
History and origin
Muskoka is a region of Ontario on the Canadian Shield, where very ancient granitic and gneissic rocks outcrop. Canadian pink granites have long been used in construction, paving and landscaping, thanks to their resistance to harsh climates. Muskoka Pink is one of the pink shades from this area. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The pink background comes from the feldspars, alternating with grey quartz crystals and dark minerals. The pattern can be more or less homogeneous, sometimes with slight banding or orientation of the minerals. Polished, it is more intense; flamed or pointed, it takes on a rustic, lighter look.

FAQ
Is it suitable for climates with frost?
Yes, it has low water absorption and good resistance to freeze-thaw cycles, like the granites of the Canadian Shield.
Which finish should I choose for outdoors?
Flamed, bush-hammered or pointed for floors and steps, because they are slip-resistant; polished is best kept for interiors and vertical cladding.
Is it also used in landscaping?
Yes, as split slabs, boulders and large steps it is a stone suited to gardens and dry-stone walls; the availability of these formats must be checked each time.
