Dark Green Onyx: the complete guide
Dark Green Onyx is an onyx in deep green tones, with lighter bands that create contrast. It is chosen for elegant, richly textured interiors, including with light behind it.
History and origin
Like other green onyxes it derives from the layered deposition of calcium carbonate, with minerals that give it its colour. Iran and Pakistan are the best-known countries for green onyx, but the origin of each batch should be checked. Marmi di Carrara has handled it in blocks and slabs and supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The background is dark green, with light bands, sometimes honey or cream, running across the slab. The contrast varies greatly: some slabs are more uniform, others more lively. Polished, it has great depth; backlit, it shows the bands in transparency.
