Green Onyx: the complete guide
Green Onyx is the classic onyx in light green tones, translucent and decorative. It is chosen for furnishings and surfaces that play with light.
History and origin
It is one of the best-known onyxes, traditionally used for objects, furniture tops and cladding; the best-known supplies come from Iran and Pakistan. The origin of each batch should nonetheless be checked. Marmi di Carrara has handled it in blocks and slabs and supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The background is light green, often with darker bands, honey shadings or reddish veins. Variation is high and every slab is unique. Polished, it has a glassy appearance; backlit, it takes on a fresh, luminous green.

Recommended uses
Suitable for backlit walls, washbasins, coffee tables, shelves and objects. To be avoided for floors, kitchens and exteriors; the slabs are often reinforced on the back.
Care and maintenance
Only neutral detergents and a soft cloth, with a stain-proofing protector. Keep limescale removers, bleach and acidic products away.

FAQ
Are green onyx and green marble similar?
No: onyx is translucent and banded, green marble is opaque and veined. Onyx is also more delicate.
Can it be used for a bathroom vanity top?
Yes, taking care with cosmetics and limescale removers and with a protective treatment.
What thickness is needed to backlight it?
Reinforced slabs of standard thickness are generally used; thickness and reinforcement are chosen according to the desired light.
