Palissandro Classico marble: complete guide

Palissandro Classico is a dolomitic marble from the Val d'Ossola with parallel stripes in hazel, beige and grey. Its pattern recalls the grain of precious wood.

History and origin

It is quarried at Crevoladossola, in the Val d'Ossola (Verbano-Cusio-Ossola), an area with a great tradition in ornamental stones. The name recalls rosewood ("palissandro") because of the striped effect. Variants include Bluette and Nuvolato. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

A light background with parallel beige, hazel and grey bands, more or less dense, sometimes with blue reflections. Cross-cut it gives a cloudy pattern.
