Palissandro Nuvolato: the complete guide
Palissandro Nuvolato is a dolomitic marble from Val d'Ossola with a soft cloud-like pattern in shades of beige, grey and brown. It is chosen for its versatility and for a durability greater than that of ordinary marbles.
History and origin
It belongs to the family of Ossola Palissandro marbles, dolomitic marbles long quarried in upper Piedmont. Unlike the more striped varieties, Nuvolato has a shaded, irregular pattern with little directionality. It is found in floors, cladding and furnishings, in both classic and modern settings. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The light background, between beige and grey, is crossed by darker brown, grey or slightly bluish clouding. The pattern varies greatly between slabs and areas of the same block, which gives a natural effect on large surfaces. Polished, it looks deeper and more contrasting; honed or brushed, more uniform and warm.

FAQ
Why is it called Nuvolato?
Because of its pattern of shaded patches reminiscent of clouds ('nuvole'), different from the parallel veins of the other Palissandro varieties.
Is it suitable for floors at home?
Yes, its dolomitic composition makes it more resistant to wear and its irregular pattern camouflages dust and small marks.
Which finish should I choose?
Polished for an elegant, deep effect, honed for a contemporary look that is easier to maintain, brushed for stairs and areas subject to friction.
How do I order it?
Send us surface areas and thicknesses: we prepare a quote on request with photos of the slabs, so you can assess the clouding pattern.
