Rosa El Nasr Granite: complete guide

Rosa El Nasr is an Egyptian granite with a light pink background and a regular pattern. It is chosen for bright floors and cladding, offering a good balance between strength and cost.

History and origin

Rosa El Nasr is part of the granite production of Egypt, a country with an ancient quarrying tradition and a very active stone industry today. It is a material widely used in residential and commercial construction in the Mediterranean and the Middle East. It is available as slabs, tiles and bespoke pieces. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The pale pink background is made up of pinkish feldspars, light grey quartz and small black specks. The pattern is granular and fairly consistent, with moderate differences in tone. Polished, it is brilliant and bright, while flamed it looks almost pinkish beige.

Recommended uses

Suitable for residential and commercial floors, stairs, thresholds and exterior cladding. In kitchens and bathrooms it makes a hard-wearing, light-toned worktop. For terraces a flamed finish is recommended, as it is less slippery and cooler underfoot.

Care and maintenance

Routine cleaning with a neutral detergent; being light-coloured, it is best treated with a stain-proofing product in areas exposed to oils and drinks. Avoid concentrated chlorine-based products, which can leave marks.

Pairings

  • bleached oak
  • warm white or ivory walls
  • brushed copper details

FAQ

What is the difference between Rosa El Nasr and Rosa Aswan?

Rosa El Nasr is generally lighter and more even-grained; Rosa Aswan has larger feldspar crystals and a livelier pattern.

Is it suitable for a terrace?

Yes, with a flamed or sandblasted finish it withstands frost and sun and is safe underfoot.

Does it stain?

Granite absorbs little, but on light tones oil stains can remain visible if not dealt with; a stain-proofing impregnator reduces the problem.
