Burgpreppach Sandstone: complete guide
Burgpreppach Sandstone is a Bavarian sandstone in yellow-beige tones, bright and soft to the eye. It is valued for façades and architectural work requiring a light, warm colour.
History and origin
It comes from Lower Franconia, in Bavaria, a region rich in sandstones that have been used in construction for centuries. The yellow sandstones of the area have been used for masonry, decoration and the restoration of historic buildings. Today it is also offered for contemporary cladding and outdoor furnishings. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The background is straw yellow or beige, with a fine to medium grain and a uniform appearance. Ochre veins, greenish nuances or darker oxide spots may appear, varying from block to block. A brushed finish gives a warm, velvety effect; a tooled or bush-hammered one emphasises its texture.
