Onice Glaciale
Guide

Onice Glaciale: the complete guide

Onice Glaciale has cool tones, from ice white to pearl grey, with slightly bluish highlights. It is chosen for contemporary interiors and for luminous surfaces with a crystalline look.

Suitable for: BathroomWall cladding

History and origin

Light, cool onyx varieties are offered on the international market under evocative names, as in this case. The shade comes from very pure calcite crystals with slight grey inclusions. It is appreciated in contemporary design, where a natural stone with an almost ice-like appearance is sought. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The background is cool white, with light grey bands and veils and translucent areas reminiscent of ice. The intensity of the greys and the amount of transparency vary between slabs. Polishing gives a glassy effect, a satin finish a more muted look.

FAQ

What light temperature should be chosen for backlighting?

To keep its cool appearance, neutral or cool light of around 4000 K is used; warm light shifts it towards ivory. It is worth testing on a sample.

Is it similar to White Onyx?

Both are light onyxes, but Glaciale has grey and bluish undertones, whereas White tends towards ivory. The choice depends on the colour palette of the room.

Can it be used for a bar counter?

Yes, it is one of the most dramatic applications, especially when backlit. For the counter top, a protector and frequent cleaning are recommended, or alternatively a top in a more resistant material.

How do I order it?

Send us a request with dimensions and project: we will send you a quote and photos of the slabs, also against the light, to assess their transparency.
