Persian Multicolour Onyx: the complete guide
Persian Multicolour Onyx is a banded onyx in warm colours, with yellow, red, orange and white layers. It is valued for its brightness and transparency, which make it very effective when backlit.
History and origin
Iran has a long tradition of quarrying and using onyx, which features in the country's architecture and craftsmanship. Multicoloured varieties of Persian origin are among the best known on the international market. Today they are available in slabs, including large formats, often reinforced on the back. Marmi di Carrara supplies it on request.
Look and veining
The bands follow wavy or concentric paths, shifting from white to yellow and from orange to red. Tones and transparency change from one slab to another, and the lighter areas look almost glassy against the light. Polishing enhances its brilliance, while honing softens the contrasts.

FAQ
How does it differ from Pakistani Multicolour?
Persian tends towards warmer, brighter tones, with plenty of yellow and orange; Pakistani includes more greens and browns. Both are calcareous onyxes with similar performance.
Which LEDs should be used to backlight it?
LED panels or strips with warm or neutral light are used, evenly distributed and with low heat emission. The distance from the slab must be designed to avoid visible light stripes.
Is it suitable for a floor?
Only in very low-traffic areas, for example as a decorative inlay. On an everyday floor it would scratch and lose its shine in a short time.
How do I order it?
Request a quote stating dimensions and use: we will send you photos of the available slabs, also against the light if backlighting is planned.
