Onice Tigre (Tiger Onyx)
Guide

Tiger Onyx: the complete guide

Tiger Onyx is an onyx with alternating brown, honey and cream bands reminiscent of a big cat's coat. It is chosen for warm, dramatic surfaces, often backlit.

Suitable for: BathroomWall cladding

History and origin

The striped pattern arises from the deposition of layers of calcium carbonate with different impurities. It is an imported material known by this trade name; onyxes of this type generally come from the Middle East, but the origin varies depending on the batch. Marmi di Carrara has handled it in blocks and slabs and supplies it on request.

Look and veining

The pattern consists of parallel or wavy bands in brown, honey and cream. The cut determines the effect: more striped or more clouded; bookmatching creates highly decorative symmetries. When backlit it takes on warm amber tones.
